[INTRODUCTION]

In Japan, SOLAKZADE has been the only boutique specializing in vintage and bespoke eyewear.
In 2007, SOLAKZADE was founded by the brother Tatsuya and Ryo Okamoto as an appointment only showroom in Osaka, Japan. In July 2012, SOLAKZADE opened its flagship shop along Omotesando Street in Tokyo, Japan. And also an atelier for repairing, customizing eyewear and making bespoke glasses.

When we started, we were just a collector.
Now we don't only have collectible vintage and rare antique glasses that were highly selected by Tatsuya Okamoto.
We are more addicted.
We also offer prescription glass lenses (not only plastic) for vintage and antique frames.
We also customize vintage Cazal frames with lizard and snake skins and many kinds of gems etc.
We also make frames that we really want by our small machine and our hands.
We are Japanese. Based in Japan. Perhaps this is the reason that we are a little too maniac.

[HISTORY]

In 2005, when Tatsuya Okamoto was a University student, it was vintage that he came to when he couldn't get satisfied with current eyewear.

Originally Tatsuya loved designers' fashion and used/vintage clothing but it was when he was a University student that he found the genre of designers' eyewear.
Then he often went to a few best eyewear boutiques.
He knew that there were many designers brands (a.k.a. house brands) of eyewear and got addicted in the power of eyewear that totally changes his own impression.

The 1st designer's brand that he got interested in is alain mikli.
The frame he loved the best was not the latest model but the model released a while back.
The optician said to him, "they are not for sale, a discontinued model" "The early fans of mikli says early mikli designs are the most stimulating".

After that he got also interested in the German label, WOLFGANG PROKSCH etc. but all the same he felt the English label, CUTLER AND GROSS was very cool.
That's when the reproduction of OLIVER GOLDSMITH started.

This OG's reproduction was the trigger of SOLAKZADE.
When the English brand OLIVER GOLDSMITH started to reproduce their vintage archives, Tatsuya saw an advertisement saying "Think 20th Century icons. Grace Kelly, Michael Caine, Audrey Hepburn, John Lennon. Think iconic style makers. Givenchy, Dior, Vidal Sassoon. Think iconic films of the Fifties and Sixties. The Ipcress File, Breakfast at Tiffany ...".
He loved the background history and bought a black optical frame.
But soon he got tired of the frame.

After that at a vintage shop in Kobe Japan, he found a no name vintage metal sunglasses.
They were shabby but uncouth and so stimulating for him.
He got excited and never tired still now.

[HIGHLY SELECTED by TATSUYA OKAMOTO]

SOLAKZADE specializes in vintage and antique eyewear throughout history.
SOLAKZADE's vintage products are very uniquely and highly selected by Tatsuya.
Both classical products (ex. B&L Ray-Ban, Tart Optical, CAZAL, Persol Ratti) for collectors and high-fashion designers' vintage (ex. Gianni Versace, CHANEL, Jean Paul Gaultier from 1990s) for fashionistas are showcased.

[RESTORE & REPAIR]

We have many loyal customers all over the world.
They cannot become satisfied with current pieces and finally arrive at SOLAKZADE to get "original" designs in a true meaning.
But SOLAKZADE's character is not only carrying highly-selected vintage.
Our biggest advantage is the art of restoring.

Even if they are new old stock (dead stock, never worn), we usually take our time (about 1 hour) to restore each piece.
We check that each stock doesn't have any tiny cracks inside the acetate frame.
And buff whole frame carefully and cordially and fix the shape of the frame.

[ABOUT THE NAME, SOLAKZADE]
